Nieuwe instrumenten voor een financieel weerbaar systeem

De financiele crisis die in 2008 uitbrak heeft hoge kosten met zich gebracht. Dit roept de vraag op of het financiele system uit zichzelf stabiel is en of beleid dit kan bevorderen. Hier wordt verschillend over gedacht in de samenleving. Dit artikel brengt deze verschillen in kaart op basis van een enquete onder professoren, professionals en publiek. Betoogd wordt dat een financiele crisis niet is te voorspellen, maar dat het risico op een crisis wel vergaand is terug te dringen. Onderzoek laat zien dat de hiervoor ontwikkelde macroprudentiele instrumenten effectief zijn. Maar de instrumenten kunnen nog worden versterkt
