Een tour d'horizon van de manieren waarop buurlanden - met name Denemarken, Duitsland en het Verenigd Koninkrijk - verwikkeld zijn in een zoektocht naar het klimaatvriendelijk maken van de elektriciteitsvoorziening, laat op de eerste plaats zien dat dit voor elk land een uniek proces is. Er is geen rolmodel voor Nederland. Wel zijn er veel relevante ervaringen in de buurlanden. Dit artikel identificeert een aantal lessen voor Nederland. Deze kunnen Nederland ondersteunen bij het ontwikkelen van het eigen model voor de energietransitie en de daaraan gekoppelde politiek-maatschappelijke drijfveren.
